Biology News just launched! Previously hosted on The Scientist Blog, the site is a daily updated news feed about everything biology - stem cells, biotechnology, bioinformatics, microarrays, molecular and cellular biology.
I'm a PhD student in bioinformatics working on AIDS - I know the stuff, and invite you to come and share your thoughts / ideas on the daily news, either via comments or in the forum (which is quite empty right now, but its expected for a new site, isn't it? It depends on you... don't let it down :)).

stories on that site still do
stories on that site still do not have clear and direct citations, only general ones to the organization from which the information was obtained
Here we go again. Press relea
Here we go again. Press releases. Stories on the site are press release, with the source and direct link to the original press release as required. Check the definition of press release. Now, check it again. For immediate distribution. My comments are always in italic. In case of interesting stories written by someone on a website, I only list them as links in "general" posts. Every news website out there does the same, because its the right thing to do. Even ABC news tech post press releases 'as is'. Honestly, can I do something more? Do you expect me to rewrite them? Running a website require tons of time, and I have a job, a girlfriend and tons of side projects. Thanks for your understanding.
i agree it takes much effort
i agree it takes much effort to compile and publish the information on your blog. i have no problem with your content, just the reference. maybe just take the extra step and don't cut off the complete URL.
would you reference your (past or future) scientific journal articles the same way you reference your blog entries? your a scientist -- hold yourself to higher standards than those in the press.
a good example: http://www.nodalpoint.org/node.php?id=1569
a link was posted to the page with the original content (http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2105/6/12/) ... instead of a link to the site the content is located (http://www.biomedcentral.com/)
not flaming, just commenting. thanks for the site.
Sorry if I've reacted a litt
Sorry if I've reacted a little harshly :) I was under the impression that you tought the content was copyrighted. Most of the time, I do provide the link to the original content; however, as its generally accepted in the press release publishing 'field', I do from time to time post a link to the site we're the content is located; I admit I've been a little lazy on this side and will improve. Still, some very popular science news site don't even bother to provide a link (www.scienceblog.com among others); they just cite the name of the site providing the content (most of the time, a journal or university).
Glad you're liking the site anyway ;)
by the way, you mentioned you
by the way, you mentioned you were interested in AIDS research. what do you think of this:

i can dig it. sorry if i cam
i can dig it. sorry if i came off the wrong way. i like to be able to go (directly) to the source to see the exact details sometimes. i guess i'm just not 'accepting' of how the traditional 'media' quotes their sources; at times it doesn't seem all that honest, in my opinion -- hard to discern their words from others (copyrighted or not).
quite frankly i'm amazed you can scour the entire net for all that information ... and daily.
