Things have improved greatly at UNSW library - there is certainly online access to Science & Nature now. Their new database system is coming together too. I've not been in the building in years - almost everything I need is online, including the text of many O'Reilly computing books. Of course, many journal subscriptions are slashed every year due to budget constraints, as with all academic libraries, though you can argue that many of those are minor journals with few readers and if you really need something, the web/a friend elsewhere/interlibrary loans will usually do the trick.

Unrelated query: subject headers for comments are not displayed?

Close but no cigar

The short answer is no. The site is now maintained by me (hosted at my current lab) and contributed to by individuals affiliated with the UNSW school of bio-molecular-stuff. So we are cool guys, but not librarians. We do have an about page here. That particular page is now 3 years out of date, however all of the people listed on that page are still at UNSW, except me.

I'm not sure what's going on with the UNSW library and weblogs. Last I heard the library was cutting journal subscriptions all over the place due to viscious funding cuts from the administration. Hell, we didn't even have online access to Science and Nature (I think that has changed ?)

I will move this comment thread off the post it's attached to tomorrow. If you have anymore questions you can reach me at the email address listed on the about page. And I would agree that librarian bloggers tend to be cooler than the other kind

Hi,
Is this a blogspace maintained by unsw librarians? I am a student at UNSW. I can't find any "about" page or your personal emaisl. Sorry for asking the question here.

I have been reading some great blogs written by librarians. Then I wonder if some cool guys in UNSW library are writing a blog? A google search leads me here.
So is this the only one? do you have a list of all UNSW libray bloggers?
Thanks!

About page updated

I have created a new "about" page for nodalpoint (see top right for the link), hopefully this should make things a little clearer for new visitors to the site. I didn't spend a great deal of time writing the text, so I welcome your suggestions. If anyone wants to be added as a "regular" contributor or if you want to change the text you should be able to edit it yourself. I have also attached the previous comments regarding our about page to this thread.
