I decided to jump on the bandwagon, the same Rosie Redfield jumped because of Pedro: Open Science.
Ok, it maybe not end up in a publication, but we are going to try to create an open source package for Fasta file manipulation. It is a software idea I had for years and will definitely serve as a good practice for scientific collaboration, Python development and wxPython learning.
The software is called InFasta (don't ask me why, I don't remember) and will be developed and "blogged" by me and Keith Hughitt.
The blog address couldn't be different than http://infasta.genedrift.org.
Comments, ideas, basically anything is more than welcomed.

Need some help guys?
I'd love to help out even though I'm just a structural biologist and not a sequence jockey.
I have experience programming in C++/wxWidgets: I've written a complete GUI application in that platform http://boscoh.com/ramaplot. My main platform @work is Python so I'm keen to seen how wxPython stacks up against wxWidgets.
I can help you work on the GUI aspect.
Sure
The more the better.
I am in the process of finishing a manuscript and we will start coding as soon as I finish it. I send you an email with the idea.
BTW, pretty nice application you have.
