I'm still working on a write-up of my Euro tour notes, but in the mean time I give you random links...
This had to happen eventually: connfab a conference community networking site (via nftb. Basically the site lists all current conferences and lets you add comments, reviews, photos etc. They have a list of bioinformatics conferences too. Now all they need is a way to link your online identity in there and then you can figure out who else in your scientific network is attending. I see potential here.
Of more academic interest: "Synthetic biology: Caught Between property rights, the public domain, and the commons", is a legal analysis of the creative commons being created by synthetic biology. Soon to be published in PLOS but available here as a reprint.
And if you're still keeping up with the semantic web try bio2rdf (via YOKOFAKUN). I heard about this project at ISMB 2005, seems they've been busy.
